Covid Covid Passes are no longer necessary on Club activities.  Please observe all Covid restrictions in place and, if you are feeling unwell, take the precaution of staying at home.

Cancellations—Please check the website or contact the organiser for any cancellations.  The leader has overall responsibility for the group and may cancel at their discretion.

Join me and Teddy for a stroll along the beach and local streets.                                                  All welcome to join in for an easy hour’s walk followed by a coffee.

Wednesday 3 August                       Easy Walk                       Highbrook Parks & Paths  

This walk in the Highbrook industrial zone takes in parks and footpaths.  Approx 2.5 hours - something a little different. PLEASE RING ORGANISER PRIOR TO COMING ON THIS WALK.

Sunday 7 August                               Moderate Walk                       Avondale –New Lynn  

Exciting New shared path.  Approx. 2 hours ending in New Lynn. From Avondale Station we will head for New Lynn on the newly opened walkway, then, via a network of walkways, finish in New Lynn for coffee, lunch, or home. We will have a short break along the way. Some road walking but mostly downhill, or flat, on paved surfaces. Bring mask and AT card for return trip. A Western train leaves Britomart at 9.24am, Newmarket at 9.35am, and Henderson at 9.29am, or parking near Avondale Station.

About 3 hrs + lunch. We will explore 3 of the main tracks, which could include a stream crossing (low tide at noon) so bring a towel.

We will walk to Onehunga Beach and follow the coastal walkway to Te Papapa, then back to Jellicoe Park by streets.  Approximately 3 hours.

Sunday 21 August                             Physical & Mental Workout                   Onehunga

This is a combined event, with Thumbs Up Adventures (Mike Maran). Mike is arranging a foot rally around Onehunga.  Then we will meet back at the Blockhouse, answers will be checked and you can have your lunch.    At 1.30 Phil will run a Fun Group Quiz for both clubs.  Please e-mail Mike and/or Phil if planning to come to one/both.

Thursday 25 August                              Tramp                                            Dome Walkway

We will do the Dome Forest Lookout Track to Waiwhiu Grove (large Kauris) via the Summit (336m asl) and possibly beyond if time permits. Not a loop so will retrace back to carpark. About 3 hrs + lunch + travel.

Saturday 27 August                              Movie Magic                                              St Lukes

ANDRE RIEU-HAPPY DAYS ARE HERE AGAIN!  For those who want a fun-filled enjoyable experience, do join me at Event cinemas, St Luke's, at the entrance to the cinema complex by 12.50pm ( film starts at1.00pm)                                                                                                       Cost : $30. Buy your ticket online or at the cinema BEFORE the movie. No allocated seating.  Foodcourt: ground floor for a snack first or a cuppa afterwards. Just come if you want; there's no need to contact me though you're welcome to do so of course.

This is an invite for all Club members, family & friends. Come along for a good old fashioned roast dinner, cooked long & slow in a wood fired oven range by Clint Ryder, followed by a movie in the cosy theatre.    Cost is $30pp incl. Cash on the day. Sunday 4 September                            Moderate Walk                     Waikumete Cemetery

This is a walk through Waikumete Cemetery the largest cemetery in New Zealand and the second largest cemetery in the Southern hemisphere. The cemetery is a beautiful place with many heritage and historic features. It has a distinctive landscape with well formed roads and facilities. There will be a small bush walk with some hill walking included. 2 hours approx.

Our first chance to get together for our AGM after Covid cancellations.

We are fortunate to have as our Guest Speaker this year, John Walsh.  John gives a fascinating and worthwhile talk on his experiences over 40 years as a Ranger in the Waitakere Ranges.  You won’t believe some of his stories  -  definitely not to be missed.

Afternoon Tea and the AGM will follow his presentation.
